Title: Securing db password in unix
Post by Pete Finnigan on May 25th, 2007, 6:49pm
Hi,

In our system there are few applications which are using database password to connect to SQL like cron jobs etc.But the access to this particular Unix user is there to few other members.
So how can we hide the password and at the same time should be able to login to connect to DB.Please let me know the best practices of hiding the password.

Hi,

Have a look at OPR - http://sourceforge.net/projects/opr - There is also a good example of its use on my blog - http://www.petefinnigan.com/weblog/archives/00000419.htm
