Title: Changing the default maximum password length
Post by Pete Finnigan on Mar 6th, 2008, 7:44pm
Hi,

I understand that the default maximum password length in Oracle 8i is 30 characters.

Is it possible to change this database default ??  I would like it to be 128 characters. Is this possible ?

Thanks for your assistance...

Oracle won't reject passwords longer than 30 characters. However the excess characters are not used in the password algorithm.

Is that sufficient for your purpose, or do you feel there is a significant benefit to long passwords (pass phrases, I guess).
