Title: client information
Post by Pete Finnigan on Feb 21st, 2008, 2:13pm
Is there a way to get information about the clients connected to the database. Other than the information in v$session.
I'd like to monitor the client versions of my users.

There are a number of possibilites to explore but bear in mind if a middle tier is used the client data (unless specifically sent from the client) does get to the database.

You can use SYS_CONTEXT('userenv', you can see audit in AUD$, you could use a third party audit solution such as Sentrigo Hedgehog or you could mine the listener logs. The detail you require does depend though on your application/database architecture as well.

cheers
