Title: SQLGotcha 3.0 on Sourceforge
Post by Pete Finnigan on Oct 3rd, 2006, 9:56am
Yesterday I've placed version 3.0 of my SQLGotcha tool on See

SQLGotcha is not exactly a security tool, but it helps you to find sessions in an Oracle database that you want to trace and then it starts the trace. Search for logged in users, OS users, Unix PIDs, a user's machine or the program that started the session.

Version 3.0 is Oracle Real Application Cluster compatible and now makes possible to do event 10053 traces.

I'm already contemplating version 3.1 which should allow combinations of search items and more flexible event tracing.

Yesterday I've made SQLGotcha 3.0.1 available on (which is a very nice site, I'd like to add).

The changes include:

  • the fixing of a bug that would result in a "ORA-1403 no data found" error when looking up the spid of a session.
  • I've took a good look at Steven Feuerstein's "Oracle PL/SQL Best Practises" to make my code more stable and to prevent bugs like the one above. (I wholy recommend Steven's book to anyone programming in PL/SQL.)
